About This Tour
4-day tour from Fes to Marrakech (or reverse) begins in Fes, passing through Ifrane and Azrou’s cedar forests with wild monkeys. In Merzouga, camel rides over Erg Chebbi dunes include sunset/sunrise views and two nights in a desert camp with Berber music and campfires. Visits to desert villages focus on Berber culture. Route includes Todra Gorges, Dades Valley, and Ait Ben Haddou. Tour ends via Tizi-n-Tichka Pass in the High Atlas before reaching Marrakech. Includes accommodation, guides, and cultural activities.

Your adventure begins with a morning pickup in Fes. Drive to Ifrane for a walk through its Alpine-style town and parks. Continue to Azrou cedar forest to see Barbary macaques. Proceed to Midelt for lunch, then cross the Atlas Mountains via Zaabel Tunnel with a panoramic stop in Errachidia. Arrive in Merzouga late afternoon. Camel trek (~1 hr) over Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset to desert camp. Evening includes Moroccan dinner, Berber music, and stargazing.

Wake early to view sunrise over Sahara dunes, then return to camp for breakfast. Begin with sunrise and breakfast at camp before departing Sahara. First stop: Rissani, former caravan hub and royal birthplace. Visit its traditional souk (market days: Tue, Thu, Sun) and sample Madfouna (“Berber pizza”), stuffed bread baked in sand. Continue through Ziz Valley’s palm groves toward Tinghir, then walk through Todra Gorges limestone canyon with 300 m cliffs and 10 m narrowest width. Afternoon drive to Dades Valley with stops at rock formations (“monkey fingers”) and panoramic viewpoint. Overnight in Boumalne Dades; possible visit to a Berber family for tea.

After breakfast, drive through the Valley of Roses, known for its May festival and rose-based products. Continue to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa”; optional stop at Atlas Film Studios (entry not included). Visit Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed ksar used in films. Walk through the site and climb for views while learning about its caravan trade history. After lunch near Ait Ben Haddou, cross the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m) with photo stops en route. Arrive in Marrakech late afternoon; drop-off at hotel or airport.
