This 8-day Morocco itinerary begins in Tangier at the Strait of Gibraltar and continues to Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains. It includes stops at the Roman ruins of Volubilis, the imperial city of Meknes, and Fes with its preserved medina.
Traveling south, it passes through the Middle Atlas Mountains with visits to Ifrane and the Cedar Forests. In Merzouga, travelers ride camels to a desert camp and visit nomadic families and Khamlia village. The route then follows through Todra Gorges, Dades Valley, Rose Valley, and Ait Ben Haddou before crossing the High Atlas Mountains to end in Marrakech. Lodging is in riads and hotels, with guided cultural experiences throughout.






The trip begins with pickup at your hotel, airport, or port in Tangier. Highlights in Tangier include the Cave of Hercules and Cape Spartel, where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean. After a seafood lunch break, the journey continues through Tetouan and the Rif Mountains with scenic photo stops, ending in Chefchaouen. Arrival features views of its iconic blue buildings and overnight stay in a traditional riad.
The day starts with a walk through Chefchaouen’s old town, visiting the Kasbah Museum and Grand Mosque. Departing Chefchaouen, the route continues to the Roman ruins of Volubilis to see preserved mosaics, pillars, and arches. From there, the trip proceeds to Meknes to visit Bab Al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani Basin, Royal Stables, Granary, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. The day ends in Fes with check-in at a traditional riad.
The day is spent touring Fes. Start at the Royal Palace gate, then enter the old Medina (Fes el-Bali) through the Blue Gate with a local guide. Key sites include the Medrasa Bouanania, Najjarine Fountain, and the medieval tanneries. Afternoon visits cover the Quaraouine Mosque and University (founded 859 CE), the Jewish Quarter, and a hilltop fortress for medina views. Return to the riad for evening leisure or local dining.
After breakfast, the route heads south through the Middle Atlas Mountains with a stop in Ifrane, noted for its European-style layout. Next is the Cedar Forest near Azrou to see Barbary macaques. Lunch is in Midelt, followed by the drive through Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass and Ziz Valley with photo stops. Arrival in Merzouga marks the switch to camels for a trek across Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset. The day ends at a desert camp with dinner, Berber music, and an overnight in a nomadic tent.
Wake early to see the Sahara sunrise before breakfast at the camp. The day focuses on exploring the Merzouga area: an off-road trip to an old kohl mine, visits to nomadic Berber families, and tea in their traditional tents. Continue to Khamlia Village for Gnaoua music and dance. After lunch, walk through a palm grove and visit the seasonal Merzouga Lake, known for flamingos and migratory birds. Overnight in a hotel in Merzouga.
After breakfast, depart the Sahara for Rissani to visit its traditional market, especially active on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Continue to Erfoud to see fossilized marble workshops, then pass through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad en route to Todra Gorges. Walk through the 300 m canyon carved by the Todra River. After lunch, drive to Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades, stopping at the “Monkey Fingers” rock formation and scenic overlooks. Check in to a hotel in the Dades Valley for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, the route leads to Kalaat M’Gouna in the Rose Valley to observe traditional rose-product production. Proceed through Skoura’s palm groves to Kasbah Amredhyle, then to Ouarzazate to visit Atlas Film Studios and Taourirt Kasbah. Continue to Ait Ben Haddou for exploration and views, then visit Telouet Kasbah before crossing the High Atlas via Tizi-n-Tichka Pass (2,260 m) with stops for lunch and photos. Arrival in Marrakech by evening and check-in at a traditional riad.
The final day in Marrakech begins with a visit to the Koutoubia Mosque, followed by the Saadian Tombs and Bahia Palace. The tour continues through the Jewish Quarter and into the souks, observing traditional crafts. At Jemaa el-Fnaa square, experience the shift from daytime market to evening street performances. Free time is available depending on flight schedule before airport transfer. Optional transfers to Casablanca or Tangier can be arranged.
