This 9-day Morocco itinerary starts in Marrakech and crosses the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi-n-Tichka Pass to Ait Ben Haddou (UNESCO site, film location).
Continues through Todra Gorges to Merzouga at the Sahara’s edge for a camel trek and desert camp overnight with Berber music.
Proceeds to Fes with its old medina and tanneries, then to Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains, followed by Tangier. Includes visits to Asilah, Rabat, and ends in Casablanca with the Hassan II Mosque. Lodging in riads and hotels, guided tours, and cultural activities throughout.








Arrive at Marrakech Menara Airport; 15–20 min transfer to hotel or riad. After check-in, time to rest or explore nearby streets. Optional evening visit to Jemaa el-Fnaa for food stalls, performers, and local atmosphere. Guide meets you at your accommodation to review next day’s plan.
Depart Marrakech after breakfast. Drive east through High Atlas Mountains via Tizi-n-Tichka Pass (2,260 m), stopping for views and photos. Visit Telouet Kasbah (former Glaoui seat, partial ruins with preserved interiors). Continue to Ait Ben Haddou (UNESCO ksar, film location). After lunch, proceed to Ouarzazate. Visit Atlas Film Studios and Taourirt Kasbah. Overnight in Ouarzazate.
Depart after breakfast toward Merzouga. Drive through Skoura Oasis (palm groves, kasbahs) and Valley of Roses (known for rose products). Stop at Todra Gorges to walk between 300 m limestone cliffs. After lunch, continue through Berber villages and Erfoud (fossil workshops). Arrive at Sahara’s edge in late afternoon. Camel trek (1–1.5 hrs) into Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset. Arrive at desert camp for mint tea, dinner, and Berber music. Camp includes beds, toilets, and basic wash facilities.
Begin with sunrise over Sahara dunes, followed by breakfast and camel ride back to vehicle. Drive via Rissani (historic trading hub, Alaouite origin, local souk visit), continue through Ziz Valley (palm-filled oasis, photo stops). Reach Midelt (apple-producing town) for lunch. Afternoon drive through Middle Atlas Mountains: cedar forests, Azrou (possible Barbary macaque sightings), and Ifrane. Arrive in Fes by evening, check into riad in medina.
After breakfast, meet your local guide for a full-day walking tour of Fes el Bali (UNESCO site, largest car-free zone). Begin at the Royal Palace gate, then explore the Jewish Quarter. Visit Al Qaraouine University (est. 859 CE), the tanneries (view dye pits from terrace), and madrasas (Bou Inania, Attarine). See the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum. After lunch in the medina, tour artisan souks and a ceramics cooperative. End with a panoramic medina viewpoint before returning to your riad.
Drive from Fes to Meknes (UNESCO site, former capital under Moulay Ismail). Visit Bab Mansour gate and Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Continue to Volubilis (Roman ruins with mosaics and arches, UNESCO site). In the afternoon, drive to Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains. Upon arrival, check into the riad and explore medina lanes, Plaza Uta el-Hammam, and Kasbah Museum.
Spend the morning exploring Chefchaouen optional hike to Spanish Mosque for views, shop local crafts, or revisit medina. Around midday, drive through Rif Mountains toward Tangier, passing Tetouan (possible brief stop to see UNESCO-listed medina). Arrive in Tangier by late afternoon. After check-in, optional orientation walk along the waterfront or medina. Dinner in Tangier recommended by guide.
Explore Tangier: visit Cap Spartel (Strait of Gibraltar viewpoint) and Caves of Hercules. Drive south along the Atlantic to Asilah walk its mural-filled medina and optional seafood lunch. Continue to Rabat to see Hassan Tower and Kasbah of the Udayas. Arrive in Casablanca by evening, check into hotel, optional walk along Corniche or dinner out.
After breakfast, visit Hassan II Mosque (oceanfront, 210 m minaret, open to non-Muslims via guided tour). Then drive ~3 hours to Marrakech via highway. Depending on departure plans, transfer to Casablanca or Marrakech airport, or to a hotel if extending stay. Optional stops for lunch or shopping if time permits.
